Sermorelin
GHRH(1-29) / Geref
The original FDA-approved GHRH analogue. Stimulates natural GH production through your own pituitary gland. Most natural approach to growth hormone optimization available.
Mechanism of action
Identical to the first 29 amino acids of natural GHRH. Binds pituitary GHRH receptors to stimulate GH production and release. Very short half-life of 10–20 minutes means it creates a natural, physiologic GH pulse rather than a sustained elevation.
Effects in the body
Sermorelin tells your pituitary to produce more growth hormone using your body's own signaling system. Unlike direct GH injections, it preserves the natural pulsatile rhythm and the pituitary's ability to self-regulate.
Pros & cons (from the literature)
- FDA-approved — highest regulatory standing available
- Extensive clinical safety and efficacy data
- Off-patent and widely compounded — most affordable GH peptide
- Widely prescribed by licensed US physicians
- Preserves natural GH physiology and pulsatility
- Very short half-life requires multiple daily injections or strategic bedtime dosing
- Less potent GH elevation than CJC-1295/Ipamorelin combination
- May lose effectiveness over time if receptor sensitivity decreases
- Requires cold storage and careful handling
